WEST CHICAGO, Ill. - The Edgewood College women's golf team posted their best two 18-hole rounds of the season and finished second among six Northern Athletic Conference rivals at the Benedictine University Invitational at St. Andrew's Golf Course. Their 36-hole score of 739 was nearly 100 shots better than their season opening tournament just two weeks ago.
The Eagles put three golfers into the top 10 of the event. Jessica Spitzer who joined the team just this week, shot an 83 on Saturday and finished in third place with a two-day total of 173. Sophomore Amanda Bliske continued her excellent season, shooting a 91 and an 87 for a fifth place score of 178. Emilee Guderyon recorded her second sub-90 round of the season with an 88 on Saturday on her way to a 182 and a ninth place finish. Mary Moore shot a 206 and Stephanie Leahan a 230 to round out the team.
Concordia University Wisconsin won the event with a team score of 682, getting a 1-2 finish from Muriel McIntyre and Lea Jondal.
Edgewood College will participate in the Marian University Invitational next weekend in Fond du Lac.
