TUCSON, Ariz. – Edgewood College's spring trip at the Tucson Invitational concluded with an evening split on Thursday. The Eagles earned a thrilling 7-6 win over Augsburg with a run in the bottom of the seventh and then fell to Amherst 11-7 in the finale.

In the first game of the day and the second of the tournament against Augsburg College (2-15), the Eagles pulled ahead with a comfortable 6-3 lead heading into the seventh inning. Freshman Brittany Andrews threw four great innings giving up just three runs before giving way to Jenna Ryan. Despite a hard rally by the Auggies to tie the game at 6-6, the senior Ryan was able to keep them at bay.

That set the stage for Kristen Salvatore, whose game-winning single in the bottom half of the inning propelled the Eagles to their fourth victory of the season and a tournament sweep of Augsburg.

In its tournament finale, Edgewood College took on Amherst College (6-2). The Eagles enjoyed a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but it was short-lived as the Jeffs went on to win 11-7. Ryan took the loss for Edgewood College who now sits at 4-6 heading into its conference opener against Lakeland College on March 25. The Eagles will host the Muskies in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
