MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's volleyball team wrapped up their home schedule by splitting a triangular on Wednesday night at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The Eagles took the first match, their NAC schedule finale, from MSOE 3-1, before dropping a non-conference match to UW-Stevens Point 3-0.

Edgewood College (15-15, 8-4 NAC) got off to slow start, splitting the first two sets 25-16 and 24-26 with MSOE (2-31, 1-11 NAC). The Eagles were in a tight spot, leading just 17-16 in the third set before rattling off eight of the final nine points, including three kills from senior Nina Brown. Fellow senior Ellie Peckham finished the set with a service ace for a 25-17 victory. In the fourth set, Sara Schneider served six straight points, aided by two kills from Mallory Palmer as the Eagles roared out to an 11-4 lead. They never looked back again, taking the match with a 25-13 win.

Palmer finished with a season-high 21 kills against just four errors for an attack percentage of .370. Abbi Schultz had 13 kills with just two errors for a .423 hitting match. The Eagles had nine total blocks against the Raiders led by Peckham, Kristin Manske and Brittany Bylsma who each had one solo block and three assisted blocks.

With the victory, the Eagles clinch the No. 6 seed for next week's Northern Athletics Conference Tournament. Edgewood College will head to Lisle, Ill. to face No. 3 seed Benedictine University in a quarterfinal match on Tuesday night. At 8-4, the Eagles have their best conference record since 1996.

In the second match, attack errors spelled trouble as the Eagles averaged eight errors per set. UW-Stevens Point (13-19) had 14 kills in the first set, using a run of six straight points behind the serves of Chantel York on their way to a 25-20 win. The Eagles had a great chance to win set two, as it was tied at 23, but Christina Brinkman earned a sideout with a kill and Morgan Bartkowiak served the final point for a 25-23 victory. The Pointers and Eagles were also tied at 18 in the third set, but Kaitlin Wolfe scored a kill on the final point for a 25-23 decisive victory.

Schultz led the Eagles with 12 kills. Laura Sweeney fired off three service aces and junior Kim Lueck had a team-best 12 digs in the match. The Eagles had 33 kills, but they were offset by 24 attack errors.

In the other match of the evening, UW-Stevens Point defeated MSOE, 25-20, 25-19, 25-11.

Edgewood College will close the regular season on Saturday with a non-conference match at UW-La Crosse. That final tune up for the NAC Tournament begins at 1:00 p.m. at Mitchell Hall.
