MEQUON, Wis. - The Edgewood College women's golf team found the Mee-Kwon golf course much to their liking, finishing second at the Concordia Cup meet, hosted by Concordia University Wisconsin. The tournament featured six Northern Athletics Conference teams, giving some early season insight into the NAC tournament race.
The Eagles improved on Sunday's score of 427, by shooting 408 on the second day. Their second day score was just one shot higher than meet champion Aurora University's 407. The Spartans claimed the title with a two-day total of 808, besting the Eagles by 27 strokes. Wisconsin Lutheran College was third behind the Eagles, a full 91 strokes back.
Three Eagles placed in the top 10 led by freshman Amanda Bliske, who finished fifth firing a two-round total of 198. The lowest score of the event for the Eagles belonged to fellow freshman Ashley Southern who posted a season-best 96 on Monday to finish in sixth place. Sophomore Ashley Schaefer also recorded her best round of the season with a 98 on Monday. Schaefer finished eight of 30 total golfers.
Sophomore Stephanie Leahan shot 233 to place 16th, while freshman Lorraine Heim was 24th with a 261.
The Eagles return to the links on Friday with a one-day event at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
