FORT MYERS, Fla. (Mar. 18, 2008) -- The Edgewood College softball team continued their spring break trip on Tuesday, losing 8-0 in five innings to Richard Stockton (N.J.) in the early game before suffering a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Plymouth State (N.H.)

Richard Stockton used a five run fifth inning to propel themselves to the 8-0 victory in a game shortened due to the eight run rule. Kaitlyn Corica pitched five innings for the Ospreys, yielding just one hit and striking out six as she picked up the victory. Jenna Ryan (2-3) was saddled with the loss, pitching the entire game for the Eagles. Richard Stockton remains unbeaten, improving their season record to 5-0.

Edgewood College scored all four runs in the fifth inning in a 5-4 loss to Plymouth State. Trailing by one in the seventh inning, Edgewood College had a runner thrown out at the plate to end the game. Charli Metcalf had two hits for the Eagles who have now dropped two straight games. Jenna George of the Panthers picked up the win, pitching a complete game, striking out seven batters. Rachel Elliott (0-1) was credited with the loss, striking out five and allowing 12 hits in six innings pitched. Plymouth State has now won their fourth straight game, improving to 4-2 overall. It was the first ever meeting between Edgewood College and Plymouth State.

With the losses, Edgewood College falls to 2-4 overall. The Eagles return to action tomorrow with a pair of games against Brockport State (N.Y.) and Lasell College (Mass.) before concluding their spring break trip on Thursday.
