JANESVILLE, Wis. – A high note is what the Edgewood College women's golf team finished its season on Saturday after earning a second place team finish at the 2008 NAC Championships played at the Glen Erin Golf Club in Janesville, Wis.
Aurora University took home the team title by a comfortable margin thanks to three of its golfers earning all-conference honors.
Edgewood College's Amanda Bliske shot a second round score of 86, which tied Nikki Commons of Lakeland College for the highest mark of the day. Bliske's two round total of 178 earned a third place individual finish for the championship and was just one stroke behind Commons for second place.
Muriel McIntyre of Concordia Wisconsin earned Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year and Conference medalist honors after her two round score of 168.
Erin Schaefer bested her first round score by 14 strokes with a second round 99 qualifying her for all-conference honors. She joins Bliske as the only two Eagles to accomplish the feat in 2008.
Stephanie Leahan finished in a tie for 13th after a three stroke improvement on Saturday. Lorraine Heim played her best golf of the season in tying for 19th place.
Heim, normally the team's fifth player, stepped up to help the Eagles improve by two strokes after its usual No. 4 player, Ashley Southern, was forced to bow out due to a shoulder injury after a solid first round score of 108.
The Eagles second place finish is its best since also finishing second in 2006.
