MADISON, Wis. – Edgewood University women's soccer head coach Derek Helmer announced his decision that the 2025 season was his final season with the Eagles.
Helmer led the women's program since 2019, winning 60 games. Helmer returned the Eagles to the NACC Tournament during the 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2025 seasons. In 2025, the Eagles competed in the NACC Tournament Semifinal and posted the most wins (15) since the 2013 season. Helmer coached three First-Team, six Second-Team, and nine Honorable Mention All-NACC players, in addition to two All-Region selections.
"I am grateful for Derek's leadership in continuing to build upon the proud history of the Edgewood University women's soccer program," said Director of Athletics Nick Pasquarello. "It's clear that Derek's impact on Edgewood University soccer will be felt for years to come. Beginning today, we will look to build on the legacy of Eagle women's soccer that has been established over many generations."
Helmer concludes his time with Edgewood University athletics after serving as women's soccer head coach for seven seasons and four seasons as the men's soccer head coach. Helmer played soccer for Edgewood University under his predecessor, Tim Alexander, and was a two-time All-Lake Michigan Conference Selection.
During his time with the men's program, Helmer coaches two First Team, two Second Team, and two Honorable Mention All-NACC players, in addition to three All-Wisconsin Team selections.
