Second half goals lift Eagles past Buccaneers

BELOIT, Wis. The Edgewood College women's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a 17-5 win over Beloit College on Wednesday. The Eagles second half attack solidified the Eagles fourth-straight victory. Emma Raupp paced the Eagles attack with a season-best nine goals.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (8-7, 7-2 NACC) scored first on Wednesday evening, as Raupp netted a free-position goal to open the game in favor of the Eagles.

- Beloit College (7-6, 4-5 NACC) responded back with three-straight goals to take a 3-1 advantage after the first 15 minutes.

- Kerry Costello scored the Eagles second goal with 14:30 on the clock in the second quarter. Costello's goal assisted by Malak Daoud. Raupp tied the game at three goals apiece with 10:41 left on the clock before halftime. Goals from Costello and Raupp gave the Eagles a 6-3 advantage with three minutes remaining in the second quarter. Maya DeGeorge scored twice for Beloit in the final minutes of the quarter. The Eagles took a 6-5 advantage into halftime.

- Edgewood College turned on the jets in the second half, scoring 11 goals through the final two quarters. Most importantly, the Eagles did not allow a goal from the Buccaneers in the final half of action.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Raupp led the Eagles offense with nine goals, a season-best for the senior.

- Brown, Costello, and Daoud each scored twice and added an assist on the evening.

- Zoee Pond recorded 11 saves in net for the Eagles. Pond recorded five saves in the third quarter, crucial to keeping the Buccaneers off the board in the second half of action.

THE OPPOSITION
- Maya DeGeorge totaled three goals and one assist for the Buccaneers.

- Johanna McNair scored twice and picked up six ground balls.

- Kim Pilon totaled six saves for Beloit.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will host Beloit in First Round NACC Tournament action on Saturday. Action is set for 12:00 p.m. from Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park.
