Eagles Women's Soccer Preview

The Edgewood College women's soccer squad enters 2024 looking to build on their momentum from back-to-back NACC Tournament appearances and their third overall under head coach Derek Helmer. The back-to-back trips to the tournament was their first since 2015 and 2016. With a deep cast additions to a core of players that made the conference tournament, the Eagles have sky-high expectations.
 

“We're very excited about our upcoming season - our preseason has been competitive, demanding, and more intense than ever before,” said Helmer.

2024 Women's Soccer Schedule

The Eagles open the season with three non-conference tilts on the road, starting with a match at Monmouth on August 30. They will open up Reddan Park by hosting Central College on Wednesday, September 11.  NACC action kicks off with a showdown at home against Illinois Tech on Wednesday, September 18. A road trip to NACC Tournament champion MSOE for a rematch of the NACC Tournament Quarterfinal on Saturday, September 21 starts the conference slate with a pair of battles. Edgewood College will conclude their regular season with a trip up north to face St. Norbert on Wednesday, October 30.

We welcome 14 new freshmen, a very talented and driven group, and are pleased with how well they have assimilated with our strong group of returners. We have high expectations for this fall and are very excited for the potential of this group.

Derek Helmer
Derek Helmer is in his sixth season leading the Edgewood College Women's Soccer program with a 36-42-8 record. Helmer and his coaching staff are coming off their third trip to the NACC Tournament in four years and earned NACC Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2022.

By the Numbers

2 - The Eagles return two All-NACC players from last years roster. Greta Blau earned Second Team accolades while Grace Johnson was tabbed as an Honorable Mention

8 - Three players tied for the team lead with eight goals last year. Blau and Rylee Brotz are the two returning players of the trio.

21 - Blau led all Edgewood College players with 21 points.

9 - Hailey Corcoran allowed nine goals in 630 minutes of play last season, including one shutout and three combined shutouts

34 - The Eagles field a deep roster this year of 34 players.
