LANSING, Mich. – The Edgewood College cross country team had another solid day with three runners posting personal-best times at the NCAA Division III Pre-national meet on Saturday. The women's team competed in the 6K varsity race while the men's ran in the 8K varsity distance, all against a number of nationally ranked teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ally Verbauwhede led the way for the women's cross country team, placing 26th in the 316-runner field. She posted a PR time of 22:45.6, crushing her previous best time set just last weekend of 23:28.4.
- Rachel Ehrhart wasn't far behind, posting a PR of 22:54.7, 50 seconds faster than her previous best time in the 6K distance. Ehrhart finished in 30th place, an impressive feat for the senior.
- Irene Ehrhart (24:25.7), Ivy White (24:50.4), and Mandy Giese (26:00.6) also ran in the tough field. The women's squad finished just 13 seconds behind UW-Whitewater.
- Craig Seger led the way on the men's side, finishing in 28:58.7. Tyler Mueller (29:22.9), Blaine Springer (29:40.4), and Brett Cox (29:53.7) were next to cross the line for the men's squad.
- Kadin Wojcik rounded out the Eagles top-5 performers with a PR time of 30:07.8, his previous best time coming back on October 16, 2021 at the Wisconsin Private School Championships.
- Zach Heckman rounded out the field for the Eagles, crossing the finish line in 31:56.0.
THE RACE
- Chicago won the women's race, while MIT gained the team title in the men's contest. Kassie Parker of Loras won the individual title in the women's 6K, while Ethan Gregg of UW-La Crosse took home the title in the men's 8K.
- There were eight nationally ranked teams in the women's field (Chicago, MIT, UW-La Crosse, Hope, Loras, Calvin, George Fox, and Ohio Northern).
- There were nine nationally ranked teams in the men's field (MIT, UW-La Crosse, UW-Whitewater, Otterbein, Chicago, Loras, Calvin, George Fox, and Mount Union)

- The Eagles will run at the Bradley University Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. on Friday, October 14. On Saturday, October 15, the Eagles will compete at the Wisconsin Private School Championships in West Allis, Wis.
