MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Golf team concluded its 2020-21 season with a different format than it is used to playing. The Eagles competed in the Madison College Spring Stableford Invitational Friday. The different format didn't stop the Eagles from picking up their sixth win in eight tournaments for the 2020-21 season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The modified stableford scoring system was a points-based system that featured players separated into pairings. A hole-in-one was worth 10 points, a double eagle worth eight, an eagle six, a birdie four, a par two, a bogey one, a double bogey zero, and a triple bogey or worse negative one.
- The top two pairings of the three for each team were counted up for the team score. Edgewood College had two of the top three pairings in the entire tournament as
Jake Schroeckenthaler and
Kasen Fager were the top duo with 46 points.
Matthew Davidson and
Jeromy Toutant finished third with 42 points. Those two scores were added up for the Eagles 88 points, which was eight points better than runner-up, Bryan & Stratton College.
- The Eagles third team of
Josh Hentrich and
Ryan Beck totaled 35 points on Friday.
THE SEASON
- Edgewood College competed in eight meets over the 2020-21 season and won six of those. The Eagles won two home meets at Bishops Bay, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invite, the Carthage College Invite, the UW-Eau Claire Triangular, and Friday's meet at Madison College.
