Eagles Capture Team Title at Home Quadrangular

MIDDLETON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Golf team fired a team score of 293 to win its home Edgewood College Quadrangular on Friday at Bishops Bay Country Club. Matthew Davidson led the way for the Eagles, winning medalist honors with a two-under 70.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davidson carded four birdies en route to his individual win on Friday. The senior shot an even par 36 on the front nine before posting a two-under 34 on the back. Davidson did not bogey a hole on the back nine.

- It was the third-straight time Edgewood College has won the spring home tournament at Bishops Bay as the Eagles also captured the team titles in the spring of 2018 and 2019. No tournament was played in 2020 due to COVID-19. The Eagles did win a tournament at Bishops Bay in the fall of this season as well.

- Josh Hentrich finished fifth with a one-over 73. Hentrich recorded three birdies, including two on the front nine where he finished with a 36. He shot a 37 on the back nine, which included a birdie on the par-5 16th.

- Kasen Fager had his best round of his collegiate career with a two-over 74. Fager posted 37s on each nine. He played solid golf all day with 16 pars and two bogeys.

- Jake Schroeckenthaler rounded out the Eagles scoring lineup with a 76. He birdied three holes and had scores of 38 on each nine.

- The rest of the Eagles lineup featured a 79 from Ryan Beck, who birdied two holes on Friday and shot a 38 on the front nine. Noah Anderson carded an 85, while Jeromy Toutant and Jake Negus posted scores of 90 and 92, respectively. Negus birdied two holes in his collegiate golf debut.

THE TOURNAMENT
- Edgewood College defeated MSOE (299) by six strokes to win the team title. Wisconsin Lutheran (301) and Concordia Wisconsin (302) also competed in the competitive event as all four teams were within nine shots of one another.

- Garrett Schultz of MSOE finished runner-up, shooting a 71 and finishing one shot back of Davidson.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College hopes to play in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invite tomorrow at Morningstar Golf Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin. If the weather allows it, the meet is set to start at 1:15 p.m.
