LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Golf team won its second-straight tournament, picking up the victory at the two-day MSOE Invitational. The Eagles, who trailed by four shots entering round two, shot a 292 on Monday to win by three strokes. Edgewood College totaled a 296 Sunday, resulting in a two-round total of 588.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- All five players shot in the 70s during both rounds for Edgewood College. Leading the way for the Eagles overall was
Jackson Eversoll, who posted rounds of 72 (+1) and 74 (+2). Eversoll finished tied for fourth overall with the two-day score of 146. The tournament was played on two courses, the Par 71 Highlands course on Sunday and the Par 72 Brute course on Monday.
- The Eagles as a team shot +4 (292) on Monday and a big reason for that was the play of
Jensen Peck. Peck carded a two-under 70 with five birdies on his scorecard. He posted a two-under 34 on the back nine Monday. Peck added a 77 on Sunday and finished tied for sixth overall (147).
-
Matthew Davidson and
Dawson Hinz each totaled 149 strokes over the two days, each finishing in a tie for 11th. Davidson played better Sunday, recording a one-over 72 before posting a 77 on Monday. Hinz shot 78 on Sunday but rebounded nicely with a one-under 71 during round two. Hinz played the back nine one-under on Monday, recording a par on holes 10-17 before gaining a birdie at 18.
-
Josh Hentrich shot a 152 over the two days with rounds of 75 and 77, respectively.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles have won their last two tournaments now, also winning the WLC Fall Invite last weekend. Edgewood College won both of those two tournaments last year as well.
- The 292 was the best team score of the season for the Eagles. In addition, Peck's two-under 70 on Monday tied the season-low best round for Edgewood College (Davidson, 70 (-2), Round one at UW-Eau Claire).
