MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Despite playing nearly four matches in a span of 24 hours, the Edgewood College women's tennis team beat Alverno College, 9-0, and Marian University, 8-1, in their final two matches of the Labor Day weekend. The pair of wins gave the Eagles a 2-0 start to the conference season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-It was nearly a clean sweep of the Inferno after the Eagles only allowed them to win a total of 24 games

Sydney Verbauwhede battled back from a loss in a first set loss to win 6-7, 7-5, 10-6 at No. 1 singles

Haley Brooks and
Jaclyn Swift won their respective doubles and singles matches without dropping a game

Alicia Picard earned victory at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-2) and are both tied for the team lead with four singles wins each

Lydia Dean won a close No. 2 doubles match, 8-5, and
Jaclyn Swift and
Haley Brooks teamed up for an 8-4 victory at No. 3 doubles for their third doubles win of the year
-Verbauwhede (No. 1 singles) was narrowly clipped in her three-setter, 6-4, 5-7, 10-4, while Swift (No. 4) won her first three-set match of the year, 6-2, 2-6, 11-9
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-The Eagles are being outscored 31-5 in four losses this season, but are outscoring opponents 25-2 in three wins
-It was the eighth straight season the Eagles have won their first two conference games
