HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Eagles took care of business early against Concordia Wisconsin after the duos of Alyssa Carew/Sydney Verbauwhede, Alicia Picard/Jaclyn Swift, and Haley Brooks/Marissa Wilson swept doubles by the scores of 8-5, 8-5, and 8-6, respectively
-Even more impressive was that all three Falcons doubles teams were named All-Conference
-Needing only two singles wins to clinch the NACC title, the Eagles won the first set in four of the six matches
-Concordia Wisconsin stormed back to win five singles matches, including three in the third set, to secure their second-straight NACC tournament title
-No. 3 Verbauwhede (6-3, 0-6, 3-6), No. 5 Brooks (6-2, 0-6, 1-6), and No. 6 Wilson (6-3, 3-6, 2-6) all fell in tense, three-set matches
-Carew was the only match to go unfinished and she just missed out on a momentum-shifting victory with three matches remaining after dropping a second-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (8-6)
-In the morning semifinal, the Eagles made quick work of Alverno after sweeping all three doubles matches, 8-5, 8-5, and 8-1
-Brooks won at the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-0, and Wilson won at the No. 6 slot, 6-0, 6-1, as the Eagles advanced to their seventh-straight NACC tournament final
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-Despite coming up short, the Eagles battled the Falcons after losing 9-0 to the NACC regular season champions in the fall
-It was the second-straight season the Falcons edged the Eagles in the NACC tournament final after winning 5-4 last season, including a three-set tiebreaker victory in the deciding match
-Expect another tough battle next season as both teams combined to graduate one senior from today's tournament final rosters
