HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening match against Dominican started 30 minutes late after the teams moved over to the Powless Tennis Center to avoid the morning rain. Edgewood College didn't let any of the distractions bother them as they swept through doubles play.
- Alicia Picard and Alyssa Carew had the largest margin of victory in doubles against the Stars, defeating Carmelit Villalobos and Elizabeth Cordes 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
- In singles play, Picard and Carew won their matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles handily. Jaclyn Swift defeated Dominican's Heidi Carvagal 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 4 position. The Eagles' Haley Brooks topped Gabby Curran 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
- For the afternoon match against Aurora University, the Eagles moved back outdoors and again swept doubles play. Sydney Verbauwhede and Marissa Wilson overpowered the Spartans' Mackenzie Smith and Haley Cooley 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
- The Eagles also swept singles play, but a couple of the matches were competitive. Wilson had to come from behind after dropping the first set to Aurora's Cooley. She eventually prevailed in a match tiebreaker 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 at No. 3 singles. In the No. 5 position, Verbauwhede held off Aurora's Melanie Findlay in the second set to avoid a match tiebreaker. Verbauwhede went home with a 6-2, 7-5 win.
