MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's tennis program has made a habit out of reaching the NCAA Division III Tournament in recent years and this season was no different, as the Eagles clinched their sixth NACC Tournament championship in the last seven years at Nielsen Tennis Stadium with 5-0 wins over No. 4 Benedictine and No. 2 Concordia Wisconsin.

With the title, the Eagles snagged the automatic bid for the 2015 NCAA Division III Tennis Championship. Eight regional sites will each send a champion to the finals on May 18-23 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. The Eagles will find out their first round opponent and site on Monday at 11:00 am. Regional play is scheduled to begin on Thursday, May 7.

The Eagles began the day by meeting the fourth-seeded Eagles of Benedictine University in the semifinals and easily came away with a 5-0 victory. Edgewood College won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches by scores of 8-0 and Benedictine University then defaulted their next three matches to give Edgewood College the shutout victory.

Morgan Wilson and Laura Olsen teamed up to take down Antionette Goyao and Bhavana Movva at No. 1 while Ashli Paulson and Anna Miles beat Andrea Goyao and Elizabeth Skaggs in the No. 2 slot.

Those two doubles teams and the duo of Sabrina Fuller and Molly Protz at No. 3 got Edgewood College out to a quick 3-0 lead in the championship match against the Falcons. The Falcons couldn't muster more than three points in any of the doubles matches.

Anna Miles and Laura Olsen were the two Edgewood College players to finish first in singles competition to seal the deal. Miles, playing at No. 2, beat Emily McCormick 6-0, 6-1 and Olsen, playing at No. 3, defeated Sabine Jacobsen 6-1, 6-0.

Edgewood College was in the lead in three of the remaining four matches that wound up being unfinished. The NCAA appearance will be the sixth for Edgewood College in program history and the Eagles will be aiming to advance past the first round for the first time. The Eagles improved to 18-10 overall on the season with the win.
