MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's golf team wore the layered look for their first tournament of the spring at Gibson Woods Golf Course as part of the Monmouth College Fighting Scots Invitational. The Eagles were one of only two teams in the field to improve their score in breezy conditions on Sunday, as Edgewood College placed seventh with a 36-hole team score of 640.

Edgewood College's Kenny Rucker was one of 13 golfers to shoot 76 or better as the wind and cold increased for Sunday's second round. Rucker shot 76 for a two-day total of 156 to tie for 22nd place in the field of 50 golfers. Patrick Bohrer was the Eagles low player on Saturday with a 78. Bohrer finished with a score of 159, just missing the top half of the field at 27th place.

Michael Mathwick also broke 80 on Sunday with a score of 79 to finish at 162. Tyler Cobb and Tony Thaden rounded out the team with 36-hole totals of 163 and 170, respectively.

Fifth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan won the tournament with a five-over par score of 573. The Eagles will visit the Titans for their next competition, the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on April 5-6 at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
