Box Score

LISLE, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team carried momentum into Saturday's game and turned that energy into their fourth straight win. Sam Quinones capitalized on a penalty kick with less than two minutes in the game to give Edgewood College the 2-1 victory over Benedictine University.

Benedictine found the back of the net first with a goal in the 23rd minute by Edgar Reyes. Edgewood College wasted no time and retaliated with a score by Paul Domann just 36 seconds later. Shots were traded back and forth, but neither team capitalized the rest of the half.

In the second period, both defenses played their part and only one shot on goal was attempted the last 45 minutes. The game remained tied at 1-1 until Edgewood College capitalized on a foul by Benedictine. A penalty kick was awarded and Quinones was chosen to take it. Benedictine goalkeeper Zorohn Reed could not stop the kick and Quinones was credited with the game-winner with only 1:42 remaining in the game.

Edgewood College goalkeeper Chad Stivers grabbed one save, earning his fifth win of the year. Zorohn also notched a save for Benedictine, but allowed two goals.
