MADISON, Wis. –The Edgewood College men's soccer team carried the momentum from their two game win streak into Wednesday night's game as they posted their fifth shutout of the year. The Eagles netted a goal in each half to down the Muskies 2-0 and extend their winning streak to three games.

Edgewood College (5-3-1, 3-1 NAC) broke out for a season high 24 shots with 12 of them being on goal. The Eagles dominated the time of possession and peppered the goal continuously, but could not convert on any of their opportunities until the 28th minute.  Andrew Aurit made a run to the end line, beat two defenders off the dribble and centered the ball where Kelmend Isaj was waiting to punch it in to grab the 1-0 lead.

The Eagles continued their dominance in the second half and only allowed Lakeland College (2-6-1, 0-2-1) to get off two shots. In the 74th minute, Jacob Overman beat the back line of the Muskie defense and drilled a shot that was blocked by Lakeland's goalkeeper Alex Piekarski, but Stephen Gilbert was there for the rebound and fired a shot on the far post to put the Eagles up 2-0.

Edgewood College only allowed four shots all game and Chad Stivers snagged the only two shots on goal he faced for his fourth shutout of the year. Piekarski made 10 saves for the Muskies in the loss.

The Eagles' third straight win puts them in a three way tie for first with nine points in the Northern Athletics Conference. Dominican University and MSOE also have nine points.

The Eagles will have a chance to extend their winning streak to four games on Saturday's matchup at Benedictine University. Live stats and live video will be provided. These links can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
