MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team had not scored a goal in the past two games, but the Eagles put that stat behind them and netted two scores in the first 15 minutes against Wisconsin Lutheran. Edgewood added another goal late in the game to win their first conference game of the 2012 season 3-1.
A much needed Eagle offense showed up against the Warriors after being shutout in consecutive games. Edgewood College tallied four shots before Andrew Aurit converted on an opportunity in the 12th minute and netted his third goal of the season. Senior Paul Domann added to the lead less than two minutes later with his first goal of the year to put Edgewood College up 2-0. The Eagles maintained this lead into halftime.
After the break, both teams were evenly matched and the score remained 2-0 until the 70th minute when Wisconsin Lutheran's Austin Drake found Jake Semmann who cut the Eagles' lead in half. After the goal, the Edgewood College defense held their ground and would not surrender another score the rest of the game. With less than five minutes to play, the Eagles added an insurance goal when Aurit assited Jacob Overman who put Edgewood College up for good 3-1.
Goalkeeper Chad Stivers made two saves for the Eagles to earn his second win of the year. Warrior goalkeeper Jon Stewart made four saves in a losing effort.
