KENOSHA, Wis. – After a two week layoff, the Edgewood College women's tennis team took on UW-La Crosse and Carthage College in their final tune-up before the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament. UW-La Crosse took the first match from the Eagles 9-0 while Carthage won the nightcap 9-0.
In the first match, UW-La Crosse (22-6) only dropped two sets in doubles as Olivia Hartwick and Abby Tresedder defeated
Shae Beckwith and
Laura Olsen 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. UW-La Crosse won the other two doubles matches 8-0.
Taylor Storbakken played the closest singles match, falling to Andrea Vivian 6-4, 6-1 in the third flight.
Edgewood College (13-15) tried to rebound against Carthage (14-7), but the Lady Reds opened by taking all three doubles matches. The Lady Reds won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches 8-0 while their No. 1 doubles team of Hollis McPeek and Haleigh McPeek topped Beckwith and Olsen 8-1. In singles, Beckwith fell at the first flight 6-1, 6-4 to Hollis McPeek while Olsen dropped her No. 2 singles match to Bari Reynolds 6-2, 6-1.
The Eagles are the third seed in the NAC tournament and will host sixth seeded Marian University on Tuesday night Rennebohm Park. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
