GREEN LAKE, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's golf team appears to be primed and focused heading into their biggest week in recent history. The Eagles placed third among 17 teams at the Ripon College Lawsonia Invitational, just seven days before the final two rounds of the Northern Athletics Conference Championships begin at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Ill.

After a less than superb outing at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational last weekend, senior Brent Quade jumped to back to the front of the team with a fourth place individual finish. Quade shot a 78 on Saturday before firing a 4-over par 76 on Sunday for a two-day total of 154. Fellow senior Mike Battista just missed the top 10 with a score of 159 and a 12th place finish.

Andrew Cobb and Kenneth Rucker shot matching 161, with Rucker shooting a 77 on the second day. Logan Kranz completed the Eagles' top five with a 162 and a 21st place finish in the field of 89 golfers. Two other Eagles played as individuals with Tyler Cobb shooting a 164 and Patrick Bohrer turning in a score of 168.

Heading into next Sunday's third round of the NAC Championship, the Eagles hold a 12-shot lead over second place MSOE and a 20-shot advantage over third place Aurora University. The first two rounds were played last fall at The Irish Course at Whistling Straits. If the Eagles win the 72-event, they will clinch the program's first ever berth to the NCAA Division III Championships.
