WAVERLY, Iowa – A day after dropping two dual matches in Dubuque, the Edgewood College men's tennis team traveled farther into Iowa to face Wartburg College and Central College. The Eagles dropped both dual matches to the Knights and Dutch 9-0.

In the dual match against Wartburg (1-0) the Eagles only won one game in doubles as Cody Strebig and Max Divelbiss fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Singles play was much of the same, with the Eagles only winning eight games. Divelbiss dropped his decision at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-2 while Edwin Mendoza and Eric Gavinski both fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

The duo of Strebig and Divelbiss nearly won their No. 1 doubles match against Central (1-0), but they came up short, falling 8-6 to Seth Harris and Zane Hendricks. Divelbiss also put up a fight at No. 2 singles against Kyle Freischlag. The Middleton native took the first set to a tiebreak, but fell 7-6 (8-6). Freischlag then took the second set 6-3 for the win.

Edgewood College will be in action again next Sunday when they travel to Winona, Minn. to play St. Mary's University and Martin Luther College. The dual match with St. Mary's is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. while the Eagles are slated to take on Martin Luther at 1:30 p.m.
