MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's soccer team needed a win following Tuesday's difficult loss at Marian. The Eagles showed determination while they overcame two separate deficits to top the Cougars 3-2 in double overtime.

After a late game-tying goal, Edgewood College (7-4-1, 5-2 NAC) was riding momentum into the first overtime. The Eagles fired the only shot, but could not convert. In the second extra period, a corner kick was awarded to Edgewood College. Jacob Overman served up the ball and it fell in the midst a handful of players. Jake Owen got a foot on the ball, took one touch, and drilled the game-winner to the upper left corner of the goal.

Concordia Chicago (1-10-2, 1-4-2) struck first in the 19th minute off a goal by Alex Lopez and the Eagles found themselves in an early hole. Edgewood College did not retaliate until the 44th minute when Andrew Aurit beat the Cougar defenders to the middle of the field and fired a score to the right side of the net.

Just over seven minutes into the second half, it was Concordia Chicago who again scored to grab the 2-1 lead. Eagles' goalkeeper Chad Stivers came out to face the breakaway forward, but DeAndre McLaurin flicked the ball over the freshman to give the Cougars the lead. Although Edgewood College found themselves playing from behind once again, the Eagles did not give in. In the 77th minute, Dane Donnelly took one touch off an assist from Jake Owen, who was near midfield, and snuck the ball past Concordia Chicago's goalkeeper. The equalizing goal was Donnelly's first of his career in an Edgewood College uniform.

Stivers played just over 57 minutes in goal for the Eagles and grabbed one save while sophomore Matt Dammen finished the game to earn his first win of the season. Jorge Guzman tallied nine saves in the net for Concordia Chicago.

Edgewood College will try string together a pair of wins when they host MSOE on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Live stats will be provided. This link can be found at EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
