MILWUAKEE, Wis. – In previous years, the Edgewood College men's soccer team has been successful in the first round of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament. The past two years have been different as the Eagles were handed their second straight opening round tournament loss, this time at the hands of MSOE 3-1.

Fifth seeded Edgewood College (9-7-1) drew first blood in the 13th minute as Kelmend Isaj hooked up with junior Andrew Aurit who fired in his 10th goal of the year. The lead did not last long as MSOE's Andryk Logan capitalized on a penalty kick in the 20th minute to equalize the score. Just 10 minutes later, the Eagles found themselves looking at a 2-1 deficit as Jordan Werner netted a score. At the break, the Raiders (14-4-1) held a slight 9-6 shot advantage and kept the 2-1 lead.

The Eagles fought back in the second half as they fired six more shots, but only one of them was on the frame and Edgewood College could not find the tying goal. With time winding down, MSOE's Drew Porter tallied one more Raiders' goal that deflated the Eagles' chances of coming back as they found themselves in a 3-1 hole.

Matt Dammen started the game in goal for Edgewood College and grabbed three saves before being relieved by Chad Stivers. Stivers saved five shots in 52 minutes of play. MSOE's Garret Farin played all 90 minutes in goal and notched three saves while giving up the first score of the game.

The loss marks the second consecutive season that Edgewood College has been knocked out in the first round of the NAC Tournament. Last season, the No. 5 seeded Eagles were defeated by Aurora University 3-0.

Edgewood College will graduate three seniors in Michael Bollig, Paul Domman, and Scott Roman. Although the Eagles lose a player at each end of the field, they will look to build off their best season in three years.
