FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Despite outshooting Marian University 15-10, the Edgewood College men's soccer team could not cash in on nearly any opportunities. The Eagles win streak was halted at four as they fell to the Sabres 2-1.
Edgewood College (6-4-1, 4-2 NAC) attempted three first half shots on goal, but Marian goalkeeper Bryce Woldt saved every one. The Sabres (1-6-4, 1-3-2 NAC) made the most of their chances and netted a goal in each half to collect their first win of the season. Marian got on the board first with a goal by Everett Zank in the 19th minute as the score stayed 1-0 into the break.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to pursue their first score, but it was Marian who struck again. Nate Peltonen netted a goal in the 84th minute to put the Sabres up 2-0. The Eagles were finally able to capitalize on goal by Andrew Aurit with 18 seconds remaining in the game, but the goal was too little, too late and the Eagles four game win streak came to an end.
Evan Conrad, and Evan Rogaczewski each tallied two shots on goal for Edgewood College, but could not find the back of the net. Aurit also had two shots on goal, but capitalized on his second.
Chad Stivers played all 90 minutes in goal for Edgewood College, grabbing six saves in the loss. Marian's Woldt compiled seven saves in his first win of the year.
