NAC Championship (Round 1)

HAVEN, Wis. – Going into the NAC Championship, the Edgewood College men's golf team knows that they have to shoot their best rounds of the season to have a chance at the tournament. The Eagles proved they were up to the challenge and fired a season low 312 to take a one shot lead after the first round. Edgewood College will compete in the final three rounds in April as the Eagles look to defend their conference title.

After round one of the championship was delayed due to rain, Edgewood College showed up on Monday ready to play. Three Eagles finished in the top ten as Edgewood College edged out MSOE for the first round lead.

Junior Kenny Rucker fired his lowest round of the season with a 74 and is currently tied for first in the 49 player field. Tony Thaden was right on his heels as he carded a career low score of 76 to finish tied for fifth. Tyler Cobb also turned in his best round of the season with a seven over par 79 as he tied for 10th.

Patrick Bohrer tied for 22nd with an 18-hole score of 83 and Michael Mathwick rounded out the Eagles' top five with an 89.

Edgewood College holds a slight, one stroke lead over MSOE and they lead Marian University by three strokes. Matt Lewellyn of MSOE tied Rucker for the lead with a 2 over par 74.

The NAC Championship will conclude on April 21 at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Illinois. Three rounds will be played as the first round at Whistling Straits was delayed because of rain.
