MADISON, Wis. – Edgewood College men's soccer coach Tim Alexander knew he had some unknown, unproven players this season. But the one who scored the Eagles first two goals was so unknown his name didn't even appear in the program. Freshman Kelmend Isaj had a collegiate debut to remember, scoring twice to help the Eagles to a 3-0 season opening win over Lawrence University.

After his name was inadvertently left out of the game program, Isaj forced fans to wonder “who's that?” with a stunning goal in the 38th minute. A Viking defender misplayed a backpass from a teammate and Isaj pounced on it. He rifled a shot on his first touch past Lawrence goalkeeper Steven Solomon and inside the right post from 20 yards out to put the Eagles ahead 1-0.

The teams seemed likely to go into half at 1-0 until freshman Stephen Gilbert spotted Isaj standing wide open near the 18-yard line. Gilbert chipped a short cross to Isaj who had time to size up Solomon and beat him low to his left side. The ball bounded off the right post and into the net for a 2-0 Eagle lead with just 33 seconds left in the first half.

Edgewood College (1-0) controlled much of the possession in the second half, and finally put the game away in the 85th minute. Gilbert sent a free kick into the box which Paul Domann challenged a Viking defender for. The ball settled on the foot of Jerstad inside the goal box and he calmly put the ball away to seal an opening day victory.

The Eagles will be right back in Breese Stevens Field on Sunday night. Edgewood College will host Beloit College at 7:00 p.m. in another non-conference match.
