MADISON, Wis. - During a scoreless first half against Concordia University Chicago, it didn't appear head Edgewood College men's soccer coach Tim Alexander was particularly pleased with his team's play. Whatever message Alexander sent at halftime must have gotten through, as the Eagles scored two goals in the first 11 minutes of the second half and pulled away for a 3-0 victory.

Edgewood College (2-6, 1-2 NAC) outshot the Cougars 8-3 in the first half, but couldn't get a shot past goalkeeper Bart Loos. Loos ended the game with three saves, all in the first half. The Eagles finally got on board after the break. In the 53rd minute, freshman Andrew Aurit sent a cross from the right wing that found senior Greg Dezell eight yards out from the far post. Dezell's header glanced slightly off a Cougar defender and nestled into the far side of the netting for his fourth goal of the season.

Less than three minutes later, Aurit found the back of the net for himself. After attacking the penalty area and getting taken down, Aurit stayed with the play and recovered a loose ball 10 yards out. He calmly picked his spot and buried it for his first collegiate goal.

In the 86th minute, the Eagles added the icing to the cake. Nate Hedrington fielded a ball near the top of the penalty area and played a nifty back heel pass to Tyler Bauer. Bauer converted from their for his first goal of the season.

Kyle Koenig earned his first win and first shutout of the season by making two saves against Concordia University Chicago (2-5-2, 0-1-1 NAC). Edgewood College doubled the Cougars shot total 20-10 for the contest.

Edgewood College will have two road tests waiting next week. The Eagles will travel to Fond du Lac on Tuesday night for a match with Marian University, before a Saturday tilt with the ninth-ranked team in the nation, Dominican University.
