Carthage, La Crosse down Eagles in Triangular

KENOSHA, Wis. - In preparation for their second consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, Edgewood College head women's tennis coach Ben Oestreich has lined up a challenging schedule for the spring season. On Wednesday, the Eagles travelled to Kenosha and dropped a pair of dual matches to Carthage College and UW-La Crosse.

Brittany Storhoff contributed to both Eagle victories in Edgewood College's 7-2 loss to triangular host Carthage College. Storhoff rolled past Kaitlyn Farrell at No. 6 singles in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Earlier, in the No. 3 doubles match, Storhoff and Jessi Ditzler defeated Farrell and Amanda Bizub by a score of 8-2. Ditzler had a tight first set in her own singles match, but ended up losing to Ashley Morgan 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Edgewood College (10-10) ran into a tough UW-La Crosse team, which is ranked 15th in the Central Region, in the first match of the day, falling 9-0. Shae Beckwith came the closest to winning a set in her match with Katie McDonald at No. 3 singles. Beckwith fell 7-5 in the first set before dropping the second set 6-0. Ditzler also took five games from her opponent at No. 4 singles, falling 6-3, 6-2. In doubles, Ditzler and her partner Storhoff had the closest match, losing 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

Edgewood College will participate in another triangular on Saturday at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles will face the Warhawks at 9:30 a.m. before taking on Elmhurst College at 12:30 p.m.
