MADISON, Wis. - Coaching both the men's and women's teams means that occasionally you'll miss one game to coach another. Years from now, when people ask Tim Alexander about the Edgewood College men's soccer team's big upset over eighth-ranked North Park University, he'll have a simple answer. He wasn't there. Under the guidance of assistant coaches Bubba Schultz and Tony Kollasch, the Eagles stunned the Vikings 3-2 in double overtime.

Senior Jerrid Dokey set up fellow senior Andriy Apetrey for the game winning goal with a long lead pass that Apetrey took and deposited in the upper right corner of the net to hand North Park (5-1) their first loss of the season.

Dokey tallied his team leading fourth goal of the season at the seven minute mark on a pass from Tyler Duellman. Dokey headed the ball off a lob pass from Duellman and was able to get it high enough to float over Dan Tuls, the Vikings goalkeeper.

North Park would be quick to answer as James Kriticos evened the score at the 11 minute mark. Kriticos would strike again at the 49 minute mark when he deflected a free kick past Eagle goalkeeper Shane Sullivan.

Duellman threatened to give the Eagles the lead in the 17th minute, as he ripped a shot that got past Tuls but his Viking teammates were there to keep the ball from crossing the line and keep the score knotted at one. Apetrey was able to beat Tuls a few minutes later and give the Eagles the lead, as he took a pass from Dokey and slid the ball into the left side of the net.

North Park's Kristoffer Grahn had many chances for the Vikings, his best was in the first half when he ripped a shot that looked like it might have a chance, but ended up hitting the crossbar.

From that point on, both teams had chances to score but could not get one in the net. In the second half North Park took many shots but most ended up going wide with one striking the left post. The Eagles had an opportunity to win the game with three minutes to go. Dokey took a free kick from the top of the box, but his shot sailed just high and the game went to overtime.

In the first extra session, the Vikings put the pressure on the Eagles as they had two chances in the first five minutes, but they both missed wide. Apetrey had an chance to give the Eagles the win late in the first overtime but his shot missed wide right.

The game went to a second extra frame, but Apetrey and Dokey didn't need much time as they hooked up for the game winner a little over a minute in.

The Eagles will next be in action on Saturday when the host Benedictine University. Saturday is also parents day at Breese Stevens Field, kick off is set for 11:00 a.m.
