Results vs. Aurora
AURORA, Ill. – The Edgewood College tennis team earns its fifth straight meet win in two shutouts of Northern Athletic Conference teams south of the border on Saturday.
The Eagles traveled to the Chicagoland area and did battle with Benedictine University and Aurora University and came away with two easy victories of the tough conference foes.
The Edgewood College women made quick work of Benedictine. Not one singles player dropped more than two games in any such set and all three doubles pairs came away with 8-3 decisions in Lisle, Ill.
No. 1 singles player Kelsey Steinhorst and No. 4 singles player Jenny Pietkauskis each failed to do one thing, and that was to drop a game in each of their matches. Both student-athletes won handily 6-0, 6-0.
The Eagles' match at Aurora was a bit tougher as the Spartans suffered their first conference loss of the season. Lizzie Starck and Hannah Pincsak each won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles then followed it up with an 8-6 No. 1 doubles win. Bridget Prendergast and Steinhorst followed suit with an 8-6 win as well at No. 2 doubles.
The Eagles appear to be on an incredible streak against NAC opponents, but the goal of a conference championship is still far off. They will take the next step forward towards a NAC title this Tuesday when they travel to Milwaukee to take on MSOE.
