MILWAUKEE, Wis. – A stiff breeze blowing the length of the field meant whichever team could take advantage of the wind when it was in their favor would win the Northern Athletics Conference tournament quarterfinal match between Edgewood College and MSOE. Fortunately for Eagle fans, Edgewood College was able to hold the Raiders scoreless when facing the wind, and net a pair of goals with it, for a 2-0 victory at Uihlein Soccer Park.

Andriy Apetrey found the back of the net twice to give Edgewood College (10-8-1) all they needed to advance to the semifinal round. First, Apetrey took a long Mike Paroubeck throw-in, worked past a Raider defender and beat MSOE goalkeeper Andy Blau for a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute.

With 10 minutes remaining, Apetrey netted the clincing goal, his seventh of the season. Apetrey had a point-blank shot that Blau stopped, but could not corral. Apetrey calmly picked up the loose ball and evaded the Raider keeper for the ultimate insurance goal.

The wind kept the both offenses at bay most of the day with the Eagles outshooting the Raiders just 6-5. Eagle goalkeeper Shane Sullivan needed to make just one save on the day to earn his sixth shutout of the season and fourth in four games. Sullivan's scoreless streak is now at 430 minutes, 30 seconds. Blau had two saves for MSOE (11-5-2).

Edgewood College now advances to a NAC tournament semifinal match next Tuesday at No. 1 seed and 18th-ranked Dominican University. The Stars defeated the Eagles 4-1 at River Forest earlier this season. The other semifinal will feature No. 3 seed Aurora University, who defeated No. 6 seed Lakeland College 3-1 today, traveling to No. 2 seed Concordia University Wisconsin. Both of Tuesday's semifinals will begin at 1:00 p.m.

For the first time in league history the winner of the Northern Athletics Conference tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
