MADISON, Wis. – Women's Volleyball opened the Todd Wehr Edgedome for the 2026-27 year Tuesday evening. They faced off with the Elmhurst Blue Jays in a nonconference tilt. The Eagles (3-0) pulled together for a 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-19) victory over the Blue Jays (1-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- An 8-3 start from Elmhurst put Edgewood University behind, but the Eagles regrouped with an 8-3 response of their own to draw even at 11 apiece. The squads exchanged blows with 4-0 runs, but Edgewood University had the wind at their backs late. They closed out the first set on an 8-2 rally.
- After falling behind early, a 10-3 barrage pulled the Eagles in front 15-11. Elmhurst closed within one with a 5-2 response, but five unanswered featuring a pair of aces all but closed the door on the Blue Jays as Edgewood University went up 2-0.
- The Eagles hit the gas and never looked back in the third set. They launched ahead 8-2. Elmhurst trimmed down the gap but never overtook the hosts. After back-to-back Blue Jays points pulled them within 20-18, Edgewood University slammed the door shut with a 5-1 burst for a home-opener victory.
- Aces played a key role for the Eagles, holding a 9-to-4 advantage in the category. They also outhit Elmhurst .198-to-.170.

Nida Zukauskaite shined in the opener. She finished with 13 kills on 28 attempts with a .393 hitting percentage.

Natalie Murphy posted nine kills in the victory.
Abbey Eivins stepped up on offense and defense, tallying 15 assists and a team-high seven digs.

Reagan Siebler pushed Edgewood University with a team-high four aces.

Laila Rasmussen stepped up in a big way in the win. She recorded 18 assists, three aces, and six digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles have won back-to-back matches against the Blue Jays, both at home.
- The 3-0 start is Edgewood University's best since the 2021 season, where they started 4-0.
