LA CROSSE, Wis. – Kylee Doherty took to the field at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on the campus of UW-La Crosse to compete for her final time in an Eagle uniform. The senior didn't disappoint, finishing eighth in the discus throw at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Doherty earned her first ever First Team All-American status, the second Eagle to do so in Edgewood University Track & Field history. Doherty added the third Second Team All-America honors of her career, this time coming in the javelin throw on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doherty opened day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Eagles in the discus throw. The senior, competing in her fourth outdoor championships opened in the first of two flights on Thursday afternoon. Doherty posted throws of 42.51 meters, 44.65 meters and 44.58 meters in the first rounds. The senior's second distance of 44.65 meters stood the test of time through the second flight to compete in the final throws of the event. Doherty, one of three athletes from flight one posted her eighth-place mark in her first round of the final throws. Doherty's distance of 44.72 meters was good for First Team All-American honors and eighth place overall.
- A rogue rainstorm blanketed the javelin throw action on Saturday at the NCAA Championships. Doherty posted her best throw of 42.07 meters in the second flight, which earned her 11th place in the event.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Doherty is the first three-time All-American in Edgewood University track & field history. She is just the second Edgewood University student-athlete to claim three All-American honors: Pat Wolff – Men's Basketball (1989-90, 1990-91,1991-92).
- Doherty is the second in Edgewood University track & field history to claim First Team All-America honors. Ally Verbauwhede finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run in 2024.
- Doherty claimed Second Team All-American honors in 2025 and 2024 in the discus throw.
- Student-athletes that place first through eighth place in an individual event will earn First Team All-America honors, while ninth through 16th in an individual event will gain Second Team All-America status.
