PLYMOUTH, WIS. - Women's Volleyball trekked north as they continued road NACC action Thursday. They faced off with the Lakeland Muskies in a battle. The Eagles (8-3, 2-0 NACC) earned an impressive sweep with a rally in the second set for a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-17) victory over the Muskies (5-10, 0-1 NACC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood University started hot, their offense flying high to a 10-2 lead. Six-straight points later in the set extended the advantage to 18-7. While a furious rally late from Lakeland featuring eight unanswered points pulled them within 24-21, the Eagles would close the book on a 1-0 lead on the match.
- The Muskies kicked off the second frame with momentum, putting Edgewood University behind 6-2 early. A 4-1 rally would help keep the Eagles on the host's tails, however, trailing just 8-7. Lakeland's slim lead held firm until a 3-0 run from Edgewood University, featuring a pair of kills from
Molly Amendt, tilted the set 18-17 in the Eagles favor. Edgewood University pushed to a 24-22 edge with a late 3-1 push, before a kill from
Marina Hosticka clinched a 2-0 advantage.
- Four unanswered kept the Eagles flying high to a 5-2 advantage in the third set. The Muskies would never overcome the deficit, as multiple 4-0 stretches by Edgewood University buried Lakeland further and further as they soared to a NACC sweep.
- The Eagles shined on offense and defense. They outhit Lakeland .310-to-.184 and had a 6-to-2 advantage in blocks.

Katie Borchert flew high. She earned a 14-kill, 12-dig double-double while hitting .429 on 28 attempts.

Abbey Eivins and
Kate Gunderson posted 18 and 14 assists respectively. Gunderson also recorded an ace.

Mia Hinkamper and
Jennacy Wille performed well in the backline with nine and eight digs respectively.
- Samya Hughes paced the Muskies with 11 kills. Rylee Esquibel earned nine kills and 11 digs.
- Sydney Gay tallied 33 assists to fuel the Lakeland offense.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles have won back-to-back outings against the Muskies.
- Borchert's .429 hitting percentage was her personal best among all qualifying matches this season (min. 20 attempts).
UP NEXT
Edgewood University will kick off a nonconference road trip Saturday. They'll travel to Dubuque, Iowa to take on Loras and UW-La Crosse. First serve is scheduled for noon.
