GENEVA, Ohio – It was a rainy start to day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday. Kylee Doherty didn't let that phase her, as the junior competed in the discus and javelin throw. Doherty became the first two-time Track & Field Eagle to claim Second Team All-America honors. The junior finished 14th in the discus throw to claim the honor.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doherty opened day one of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Eagles in the discus throw. The junior, competing in her third outdoor championships posted throws of 33.33 meters and 35.54 meters in rounds one and two. Doherty posted a distance of 40.42 meters to claim 14th place in the field of 22 to earn Second Team All-America honors.
Doherty bounced right back from the discus to compete in the javelin on Thursday. The junior opened with her best distance of the event, at 35.46 meters. Doherty finished 21st in the javelin throw.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Doherty is the first two-time All-American in Edgewood College Track & Field history.
- Doherty claimed Second Team All-America honors in 2024 in the discus throw. Ally Verbauwhede was First Team All-American in the 10,000-meter run in 2024.
- Student-athletes that place first through eighth place in an individual event will earn First Team All-America honors, while ninth through 16th in an individual event will gain Second Team All-America status.
