NORMAL, Ill. – The Edgewood College men's golf team competed at the Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Eagles carded a two-day total of 678, ending the meet in 38th place. Amongst the largest Division III collegiate golf tournament in the country, Edgewood College recorded their best score on day one, carding a 336 during Friday's round at Weibring Golf Club. The Eagles closed out the tournament at Ironwood Golf Club on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Raymond Jordan carded a 157 to lead the Eagles. The junior recorded his best score on day two, carding a 77. Jordan posted an 80 in round one. He finished in a tie for 128th place.
- Jack Vesperman recorded an 85 in Saturday's round and carded an 87 in round one. The freshman posted a two-round total of 172 to finish in 220th place.
- Charlie Huerth played his best golf in round one, an 84. The freshman closing out the tournament with a 92 on Saturday to finish with a two-round total of 176.
- Peter Haideman and Jacob Frederickson rounded out the Eagles lineup with a 177 and 179, respectively.
THE TOURNAMENT
- Host Illinois Wesleyan's "B" team took home the team title at 575 (+3) strokes. The Titans opened the tournament with a five under-par 283 on Friday before concluding with a 292 on Saturday. Aurora finished runner-up with a team total of 582 (+10).
- Spencer Lynch of UW-Eau Claire won medalist honors with a six-under par 137. Lynch carded a two-under par 70 on Friday, before improving to four-under par 67 on Saturday.
