LISLE, ILL. – Women's Volleyball hit the road as they looked to extend their win streak Saturday. They faced off with the Benedictine Eagles in another important NACC match up. Edgewood University (19-6, 10-0 NACC) bounced back after conceding a third set to win 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 27-29, 25-17) over Benedictine (11-12, 6-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two avian squads battled it out for control over the first set, but Edgewood University struck first. A 7-3 stretch pulled them ahead 19-14. While Benedictine would claw back within 24-22, a kill would clinch the opening frame for Edgewood University.
- A pair of 4-1 runs kept Edgewood University rolling 12-7 in the second frame. Benedictine grinded back within 15-12, but Edgewood University took to the stratosphere on a 10-3 burst to claim a 2-0 lead in the match.
- An early 6-0 run from Edgewood University was answered by four in a row from Benedictine as the two teams set the tone for the third set. The squads exchanged jabs throughout the frame, but a 5-0 rally from Benedictine late was answered y a 5-1 reply from Edgewood University as the two teams pushed on to extra points. Benedictine took control of the set late, finishing off the frame on a 5-2 rally to stay alive.
- Benedictine kept momentum in the early fourth set, six unanswered building a 10-6 lead. A 6-2 run from Edgewood University pulled them even 12-12 as the squads duked it out for control of the frame. Edgewood University found themselves down 17-16 late, but nine unanswered from the visitors flipped the script and clinched another NACC victory.
- Edgewood University had key advantages in kills (57-to-45) and aces (10-to-4).
- Five from Edgewood University had nine or more digs.
Mia Hinkamper paced the group with 24.

Katie Borchert posted a 16-kill, 19-dig double-double.
Nida Zukauskaite led the offense with 17 kills.

Kate Gunderson earned a 21-assist, 15-dig double-double as well as three aces.
Abbey Eivins tallied 23 assists and nine digs.

Jennacy Wille earned nine digs.
- Sophia Sommesi led all hitters with 20 kills. She earned a double-double with a team-high 21 digs and posted four blocks.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 91 digs was a team were a season high for Edgewood University.
- Borchert's 19 digs and Zukauskaite's 17 kills were both personal bests.
- Edgewood University has won five-straight against Benedictine.

Edgewood University will head back to the Todd Wehr Edgedome Thursday as they head into back-to-back home NACC matches. They'll take on the Alverno Inferno in a conference tilt. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
