RIVER FOREST, ILL. – Women's Volleyball returned to NACC action as they wrapped up their road trip Thursday. They faced off with the Concordia Chicago Cougars. After conceding a close first set, the Eagles (10-6, 3-0 NACC) left little room for doubt in a 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-20) victory over the Cougars (4-11, 0-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Chicago found momentum early in the first set on a 5-1 rally. While Edgewood University would close within one, the Cougars lead latter ballooned to 14-9 off the back of a 6-2 run. The Eagles came to life late, closing within 23-21 off of a 9-5 stretch, but Concordia Chicago would shut the door on the first set.
- After sitting tied 5-5 early, Edgewood University roared to life on a 17-3 explosion to even the match in decisive fashion. They outhit the Cougars .360 to -.174 in the frame.
- The Eagles bounced out ahead 8-2 in the third frame. While a 7-2 response from Concordia Chicago cut the gap to one, Edgewood University rolled over the hosts 15-5 to take an emphatic 2-1 lead in the match.
- An 8-3 stretch had the Eagles flying high in the fourth set as the Cougars struggled to find answers, behind 13-7. Four unanswered late would help Concordia Chicago close within 17-15, but a 5-1 response from Edgewood University shut the door on the conference victory.
- The Eagles had a 10-to-1 advantage in aces and a 10-to-6 edge in blocks.

Nida Zukauskaite swung for 16 kills on 29 attempts for a .414 hitting percentage.

Katie Borchert earned a 12-kill, 13-dig double-double.

Abbey Eivins tallied 17 assists and five aces, while
Kate Gunderson contributed 12 assists.

Mia Hinkamper had a match-high 22 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Zukauskaite's 16 kills were a career best, as was her .414 hitting percentage (min. 20 attempts).
- Her five aces were a new personal high for
Abbey Eivins.
Anna Leong's six assists were also a new best.

Edgewood University returns to the Todd Wehr Edgedome for a rematch of last year's NAC Tournament Final. They'll take on the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons in a NACC showdown. First serve is scheduled for noon Saturday.
