MADISON, WIS. – Women's Volleyball returned home to roost at the Todd Wehr Edgedome Saturday. They hosted a NACC showdown and rematch of last year's NACC Tournament Final against the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons. The Eagles (11-6, 4-0 NACC) held the Falcons (5-10, 2-1) in check for a 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-17) victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A 9-3 advantage had Edgewood University rolling. While Concordia Wisconsin fired back with a 7-3 response, the Eagles kept the visitors at arm's length as they struggled to close the gap. A 6-2 sprint late all but closed out the first set for Edgewood University.
- After trading blows early, the Eagles struck first with a 10-1 burst to claim an 18-10 edge. The Falcons clawed back into the set with a 7-3 and a 5-1 rally to cut the lead down to 24-23, but a
Payton Millin kill would cut the comeback short.
- Concordia Wisconsin bounced ahead 6-0 in the third frame, but an 8-2 answer from Edgewood University brought things back to even. The squads jockeyed for position, but this time the Falcons landing the first blow with a 7-3 rally to carve out a 21-18 edge. The teams traded points to finish out the set as Concordia Wisconsin stayed alive.
- A 6-2 rally had the Eagles rolling up 9-5 in the fourth set as their offense and defense clicked once again. The Falcons would hang around, but an 8-1 haymaker from Edgewood University featuring three
Katie Borchert kills and a pair of blocks from
Marina Hosticka put a pesky Concordia Wisconsin squad all but away.
- The Eagles outhit the Falcons .156-to-.090. They had key advantages in blocks (14-to-8), aces (8-to-5), and kills (49-to-42).
- Borchert impressed. She earned a 21-kill, 13-dig double-double with six blocks and a .308 hitting percentage on .308 attempts.
- Hosticka shined at the net with nine blocks, while Millin added in five of her own to a stout defense.

Abbey Eivins fueled the Eagles on offense and defense with 20 assists, 11 digs, and a pair of aces.

Kate Gunderson tallied 18 assists and
Nida Zukauskaite 11 kills.

Mia Hinkamper continued to hold down the fort on defense, leading all players with 23 digs and added in a pair of aces.
- McKenna Oetzman played a key role for Concordia Wisconsin with 17 assists and 14 digs.
- Abbey Proefrock and Brianna Lundt also contributed 14 digs apiece.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With her ace, Gunderson reached 100 aces in her career.
- Borchert's 21 kills were a new personal best. Her six blocks matched her previous single match high. Her 3.25 kills per set is third in the NACC
- Hinkamper's 4.62 digs per set is second in the conference.
- Hosticka's nine blocks were a new personal record.
- The 14 blocks as a team matched the season high in a match.

The Eagles will take a quick trip west Tuesday evening for their second-to-last nonconference match of the year. They'll face off with UW-Platteville in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament match in Platteville, Wis. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
