MADISON – The Edgewood College Eagles women's volleyball team continued their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) homestand Saturday. They faced off with the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors. The Eagles (11-8, 4-0 NACC) extended their winning streak to seven with a 3-0 (25-13, 26-24, 25-12) victory over the Warriors (7-9, 2-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Wisconsin Lutheran took a 6-4 lead, Edgewood College put together six points in a row for a four-point edge, before the Warriors closed back within 11-10 with a 4-1 run. The Eagles would not give their opponent any chance, jetting to a 1-0 match lead with a 14-3 barrage. Edgewood College outhit Wisconsin Lutheran .214 to -0.150 in the opening frame.
- The Eagles offense carved out an 8-6 edge to start the second set with a 4-1 rally featuring three kills and an ace. After the two squads wrestled for position, the Warriors offense took over in the middle of the frame with four unanswered and a 17-14 advantage. Wisconsin Lutheran would answer Edgewood College's 4-1 run with four unanswered as they built their lead to 22-18. The Eagles clamped down with six in a row with four kills and two blocks. While the Warriors would force extra volleyball with back-to-back points, the hosts would claim a 2-0 lead with back-to-back kills.
- Edgewood College replied to being down 2-0 in the third set with a 11-0 response. Wisconsin Lutheran struggled in the face of the Eagles' relentless pressure, Edgewood College leading by as many as 14 points as they closed the book on a sweep with authority.

Abigail Hoffmann and
Katie Borchert were a fierce offensive tandem. Both hit for .286. Hoffmann finished with eight kills, 11 assists, six blocks, and 11 digs. Borchert posted 10 kills to pace the team as well as five blocks.
- The Eagles dominated at the net with a 13-to-6 advantage in blocks. They held the Warriors to a -.032 hitting percentage.

Abbey Falk continued to anchor Edgewood College at the net with seven blocks.

Mia Hinkamper excelled as the libero with 18 digs, a match high.

Abbey Eivins paced both teams with 16 assists. She also hit for four aces and claimed a double-double with 12 digs.

Gabby Hack earned four blocks in one set of play.

Cassidy Spies swung for seven kills and tallied nine digs.
- Karah Valerio earned a 12-dig, 10-assist double-double for the visitors.
- Shannon Rusch tallied 12 digs, 4 blocks, and 4 aces.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Eivins' four aces matched her personal best.
- The Eagles have won seven in a row overall and three straight against Wisconsin Lutheran. Edgewood College has a 32-25 lead in the all-time series.
- The Eagles defense has held two teams to negative hitting percentage this week, including Tuesday's match at No. 7 UW-Oshkosh.
