MADISON – The Edgewood College Eagles women's volleyball squad wrapped up their three-match Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) homestand at the Todd Wehr Edgedome Thursday. They battled with the Concordia Chicago Cougars. The Eagles (12-8, 5-0 NACC) won their eighth-straight match with a strong defense in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-13) sweep of the Cougars (8-9, 1-4).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College got things rolling with a 10-3 start in frame one as Concordia Chicago struggled with
Cassidy Spies' serve. The Cougars offense kicked into gear, five kills in a row fueling a 6-0 stretch as they closed within 14-11. Four in a row from the Eagles gave them a late 23-16 advantage that the visitors would not recover from.
- Once against Concordia Chicago struggled with Spies' serve in frame two as Edgewood College would claim a quick 11-2 lead. They would lead by as many as 14 points down the stretch as they earned a 2-0 lead in the set. The Eagles outhit the Cougars .265-to-.000.
- The two teams would tussle over early points in frame three, but mistakes piled up for Concordia Chicago as Edgewood College took full advantage. Leading 9-5, the Eagles broke the set wide open with 10 straight points, fueled by an impressive service rally from both
Jennacy Wille and
Ciera Fletcher for a 19-5 lead the Cougars would never recover from.
- Edgewood College outhit Concordia Chicago .217-to- -.046 for the match. The Eagles defense was suffocating, earning 13 blocks as a squad.
- Three from Edgewood College had two aces. Spies recovered nine kills, 10 digs, four blocks, and two aces.

Payton Millin recorded five blocks, while
Abbey Falk contributed four.
Gabby Hack posted three blocks.

Abigail Hoffmann paced the hosts with 10 assists, as did
Mia Hinkamper with 15 digs.

Zoee Pond swung for six kills with no errors on a .500 hitting percentage.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Falk eclipsed 100 blocks on the year. Falk is second in the nation with 1.39 blocks per set and leads Division III in total blocks.
- Edgewood College has won three in a row over Concordia Chicago and is 14-7 overall in the series.

The Eagles will travel for a NACC Tournament Semifinal rematch Saturday. They will take on the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons in Mequon, Wis. First serve is scheduled for noon in the NACC showdown.
