FOND DU LAC, WIS. – The Edgwood College Eagles women's volleyball squad continued their road trek through Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play Saturday. They faced off with the Marian Sabres at Sadoff Gym. The Eagles (17-9, 9-1 NACC) continued to fly with the strength of their offense in a 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 13-25, 25-14) victory over the Sabres (9-16, 3-7).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College kicked things off up 5-2 as Marian struggled with errors. The Eagles continued to clamp down on the Sabres, as a 7-1 rally broke the set wide open at 15-8. Edgewood College would lead by as much as 10 down the stretch as the claimed the first set.
- The Eagles continued to roll in set two, with three straight kills followed by an ace helping fuel an 8-2 advantage. Marian would struggle to make any headway into the six-point deficit, and a 6-2 finisher would give Edgewood College a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Sabres kicked off the third set with a furious 7-0 response featuring five kills. Marian's offense would cruise through the third set, hitting .452 and posting 16 kills as they stayed alive in the match.
- The Eagles replied in kind in the fourth set. Back-to-back aces from
Cassidy Spies and stout defense pushed them ahead 8-2. Edgewood College ground down the Sabres on offense and defense as they followed up the hot start with a 10-3 stretch for an 18-5 advantage. Marian had no answers to the relentless Eagles' attack as Edgewood College claimed another NACC victory.
- The Eagles had a .261-to-.134 advantage in hitting percentage. The Sabres' defense helped them stay alive in the match with a 66-to-46 edge in digs

Abigail Hoffmann recorded 10 kills, 16 assists, and eight blocks as she continued to excel all over the court.
- Spies posted 15 kills, two aces, and eight digs as she shined offensively with a .333 hitting percentage

Abbey Falk posted a .409 hitting percentage on 22 swings. She finished with 10 kills and six blocks.

Mia Hinkamper continued to anchor the back row with 12 digs. She also contributed a pair of aces.

Abbey Eivins fueled a strong attack with 17 assists.
- Kylie Krueger swung for 11 kills with a .348 hitting percentage for Marian.
- Alana McDermott posted 26 digs to lead all players.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Hoffmann eclipsed 1000 career kills in the victory. Her eight blocks were also a career best.
- Edgewood College is now 31-23 all-time against the Sabres. They have won 21 in a row over their conference foe.
- The Eagles are second in the NACC with a .187 hitting percentage on the season.
- Edgewood College has won five in a row and 15 of their last 17 matches.
