Eagles fly past the Stars for a Senior Night sweep

MADISON – Returning home to the Todd Wehr Edgedome, the women's volleyball squad hosted Senior Night Thursday evening. They faced off with the Dominican Stars for some Halloween Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. The Eagles (18-9, 10-1 NACC) earned a Senior Night sweep in 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-23) fashion against the Stars (11-12, 4-7 NACC).

- The two squads exchanged haymakers in set two. Dominican struck first on a 7-2 rally for an 8-4 lead. Offense propelled Edgewood College with a 5-0 reply and a 9-8 edge, but the Stars struck back as they kept the Eagles offense in check with four straight points. Down 12-9, a 5-0 stretch featuring a pair of aces from Kate Gunderson gave Edgewood College a 14-12 edge. Dominican would later flip the script on a 5-1 stretch to lead 19-17 late. Abigail Hoffmann took over the last portion of the set, fueling an 8-1 barrage with three kills and two aces.

- After wrestling over one- and two-point advantages in the opening salvos of set three, the Eagles carved out a 14-11 advantage with a 6-1 rally featuring back-to-back aces from Cassidy Spies. The Stars would rise to the occasion, evening the set 16-16 and later held a 20-19 edge. Four in a row from the Eagles, including kills from Zoee Pond and Gretchen Warner, propelled them ahead 23-20. While Dominican would battle back within 24-23, a bad set would seal a sweep.
