STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's volleyball squad hit the road Tuesday night for non-conference action. They faced the UW-Stevens Point Pointers, ranked no. 17 in the latest Division III AVCA poll. The Pointers (18-4) were the dominant team on the night, sweeping past the Eagles (14-7) with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-14) final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College started the first frame on good footing, with errors from UW-Stevens Point fueling a 4-1 edge. The advantage held for the most part until the Pointers completely took over the set. Down 11-7, they took the match lead on an 18-4 tear.
- The Eagles kept pace with the Pointers in the early goings of set two, but once more UW-Stevens Point finished things in commanding fashion. They closed the set with a 14-1 rally for a 2-0 lead in the match.
- A 5-1 run in the opening phase of the third frame put the Pointers in a 12-7 position. The hosts would finish off the set and match in a familiar manner with a 10-4 conclusion.
- UW-Stevens Point dominated in hitting percentage (.263 to -.019) and aces (12-to-0). Edgewood College held a slim advantage in blocks with a 6-to-5 advantage.
- Ashley Kopp was the star of the show, finishing with 14 kills, 13 digs, and five aces.
- Grace Michalske ran the Pointers effective offense with 30 assists, while Lauren Shadw added in 12 digs and Sydney Mosinksi 10 kills.

Abigail Hoffmann finished the night with five kills, four blocks, eight assists, and seven digs.

Kennedy Kabat swung for four kills and
Jennacy Wille tied for the match lead with 13 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kabat's four kills were a career best for the freshman.
- Hoffmann's four blocks tied her season high.
- The Pointers .263 hitting percentage was the season-most the Eagles have allowed all season.

The Eagles return to the Todd Wehr Edgedome for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play. They host the Rockford Regents Thursday with first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Edgewood College holds a 24-8 lead in the series and has won 13 in a row over the Regents.
