Eagles tie for 6th in weather-shortened Culver’s EC Fall Classic

JANESVILLE, Wis. – The Edgewood College men's golf team began their 2022-23 season just like every other, hosting the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic at Glen Erin G.C. Due to weather, this year's event had to be shortened to just 18 holes after a storm blew through the course in the middle of round two. The Eagles score of 312 placed them in a tie for sixth place in the field of 21 teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jake Schroeckenthaler led the way for Edgewood College on Friday, shooting a 73 (+2). Schroeckenthaler recorded a 36 on the front nine and added three birdies on the day.

- Kasen Fager notched a 75 (+4), recording 11 straight pars to start the day. Ryan Beck was next in line for the Edgewood College A team, recording a 79. Beck shot a 38 on the front nine and added a 41 on the back nine holes.

- Jeromy Toutant and Noah Anderson rounded out the Eagles main squad, notching an 85 and 86, respectively.

- Four Edgewood College newcomers made up the B squad, and impressed in their first collegiate rounds. The B squad finished round one with a score of 317, good for 11th place.

- Mitchell Hackel impressed, shooting a 76 to begin his collegiate career. Hackel was consistent, recording a 38 on both the front and back nine holes. Peter Haideman also finished with a 76. Haideman started off his round with a 36 on the front nine, that included two birdies.

- Raymond Jordan notched an 82 for the B squad. Jordan began the day with two straight birdies, ending the front nine with a 37. Jacob Frederickson's score of 83 was the final Edgewood score of the round. Frederickson recorded two birdies in his first collegiate round.

BEYOND THE RESULTS
- This was the first time since 2018 the weather forced the Culver's Edgewood College Classic to be shortened to 18 holes. That year the Eagles shot a 310 and placed in seventh in a field of 20 teams before overnight rain soaked the course at Glen Erin.

THE TOURNAMENT
- Carthage College shot a 17-over par 301 to claim the team championship. Carthage narrowly edged out UW-Stout by two strokes for the title.
- Evan Bridges of Carroll University shot an even par 71 to claim individual medalist honors. Jared Christensen of Carthage College was runner-up with a 1-over par 72.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will travel to West Dundee, Ill. next Friday and Saturday for the Carthage College Invitational. Round one is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday from Randall Oaks G.C.
