MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles women's volleyball squad continued Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) play Friday night at the Edgedome. The Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors visited in a matchup of 4-1 NACC squads. The Eagles (10-7, 5-1 NACC) parlayed a hard-fought second set victory over the Warriors (7-6, 4-2) to earn a 3-0 (25-20, 27-25, 25-11) sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams traded points until Wisconsin Lutheran went on a 3-0 run, followed by an Edgewood College 4-0 run to leave the set at 12-11 Eagles. The Warriors replied with a 4-1 run to take a 16-14 edge, but the Edgewood College offense dropped a 7-1 run to claim momentum in the set, and a 4-1 rally sealed it for the Eagles.
- Edgewood College seemed to have momentum on their side as a 7-1 burst in set two put them ahead 12-7, but a 5-1 Wisconsin Lutheran response cut the lead to one. A 6-1 Warriors follow-up gave them an 18-17 edge, and a 5-1 burst put Wisconsin Lutheran on the doorstep of set two with a 24-23 lead. Errors would prove to be the Warriors downfall, with the Eagles sealing the set off of a 4-1 run and a set-clinching block from
Abigail Hoffmann and
Abbey Falk.
- The wind was at Edgewood College's back in the third and final set, with a 10-2 bombardment putting them up 11-5 in the set. The Eagles would finish off the set and match on a 13-4 rally to take home their fifth straight NACC victory.

Amanda Carlson had 12 kills and four blocks to lead Edgewood College as well as three aces. She had a .688 hitting percentage with 16 attacks and her blocks and aces were season highs.
- Hoffmann continued to contribute in all facets of the game for the Eagles with 16 assists, four aces, and eight digs.

Lea Bunch continued to anchor the Edgewood College defense with 13 digs, while
Abbey Maier had a season-high 10 kills in the victory.
- The Eagles outhit Wisconsin Lutheran .253 to .138, including a .370 to .034 advantage in the final frame.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College has now won five straight over NACC opponents and four in a row overall.
- The victory snapped a six-match losing streak to the Warriors. The Eagles now lead the series since 1991 30-25.
UP NEXT
The Eagles wrap up their NACC week with their third conference matchup tomorrow. They travel to Chicago, Ill. to face Illinois Tech with first serve scheduled for 12:00 p.m. The Eagles lead the all-time series 2-1 over the Scarlett Hawks, with Illinois Tech winning the 2021 version of the matchup in 3-2 fashion.
