PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Edgewood College Eagles traveled to face the Lakeland Muskies in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) battle Tuesday evening. The match was the first of three NACC battles in the week for Edgewood College as well as a matchup of teams 3-1 in conference play. The Eagles (9-7, 4-1 NACC) dropped the first set, but gathered momentum and took three in a row to earn a 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-13) victory over the Muskies (9-10, 3-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The early first set was all Lakeland as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead. Edgewood College would close within 15-12 but would get no closer in the ill-fated 25-21 loss.
- A 4-1 starting rally by the Eagles set the tone for round two, as the Muskies would never lead in the frame. Edgewood College would lead by as much as 23-13 in the dominant frame, with Lakeland cutting the lead down to 25-17 before it was all set and done.
- The two squads traded points in the early goings of set three, with the Eagles holding onto a slim 10-9 lead at one point. Edgewood College found their second gear first with a 6-1 burst, and another 6-3 batch of points put them ahead 22-13 late. A valiant Muskies 8-2 effort gave them a glimmer of hope down 24-21, but a service error would clinch the set for the Eagles.
- Lakeland's last lead of the fourth and decisive set would be a 5-4 edge. Edgewood College would own the last frame, a 14-4 knock out punch putting them ahead 18-9. The Eagles would follow up with a 7-2 blow to finish the job and earn their fourth straight conference victory.

Abigail Hoffmann was impressive with yet another triple-double (11 kills, 12 assists, 10 digs) on top of five service aces and four blocks. She had a .200 hitting percentage on 35 attacks.

Taylor Salmon earned a double-double off of 19 assists and 10 digs.

Amanda Carlson and
Abbey Falk both posted eight-kill evenings. Carlson hit .375 on 16 attacks while Falk led the team with six blocks.

Lea Bunch continued her strong defensive play with 19 digs to lead the entire match.
- Edgewood College hit 14 aces to Lakeland's four, while both teams were virtually equal in attack percentage with the Eagles hitting .120 to the Muskies .118.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College has two won twice in a row over Lakeland, with the Muskies owning the series lead 32-22 since 1991.
- Hoffmann's triple-double was the fourth of her season, currently good for alone in second place in Division III as of writing.
